Sterling is VP of Engineering for Cox Broadcasting, responsible for the technical activities of 80 radio and 15 TV stations.  He has held various technical, operational and managerial positions for 41 years in Hollywood, Seattle and San Francisco.  Sterling is the chairman of the Open Mobile Video Coalition’s technical advisory group (OTAG).  He is active in the work of the ATSC, on the board of directors and past chair of the Planning Committee and participating in the work of technical committees.  He is also active on the NRSC in the digital radio conversion process.  Sterling is the chair of the MSTV Engineering Committee and a member of SMPTE, IEEE, AES and SBE.
